ATV Quad-Biking
For off road adventure on four wheels, climb aboard an ATV "All Terrain Vehicle" and explore areas of Phuket from a different perspective. The small, open, motorized buggies are designed to be used on rough terrain, by a single operator. There are a number of ATV courses in Phuket on the road to Kata, or further afield and ones that can be arranged as part of a full day adventure tour.
Bowling
There are numerous bowling alleys around Phuket, and listed below are their addresses and contact details. Although there are 5 bowling alleys we recommend either "Ocean Plaza Bowling" in Patong, or "CS Bowl Centre Entertainment" located in Big C, in Phuket City.
Golf / Driving Ranges
Phuket offers Thailand's best selection of golf courses, the number of which is continually increasing. Standards are high, courses are well–maintained and excellent facilities are offered. As the selection of courses is wide, we suggest that you look at the websites for each golf course to get a better understanding of them, and of their rules and regulations. Most courses, for example, have a dress code, and others do not provide rental golf equipment so you must bring your own. Caddies, all of them women, are obligatory on the island's courses.
For golfers wishing to practice their swing, or if you are enthusiastic to hit a golf ball without actually playing a round of golf, then Phuket has a number of driving ranges you can visit as a non-member and participate.
Horse Riding
If you want to view Phuket's jungle and beaches from a different perspective, what better way than from the back of a horse? You have the option of a one or two hour trek through the jungle or along the sandy coast, or you can have lessons as a beginner, or if you want to improve your technique as a more experienced rider.
Paintballing
Paintballing is becoming increasingly popular with guests who want that adrenaline rush without the risk of serious injury that other extreme sports can bring. It is set in a controlled environment, not requiring any specialist training and offering the same opportunities for men and women. Since it encourages social interaction between all ages, paintballing is a great way to promote equality and team building, or just to go out and have fun with the family!
The paintballing facility will provide all the required equipment, including the "guns", ammunition and all protective clothing and head/eye gear. The paint is non–toxic, water soluble, edible paint. A safety briefing and explanation on the workings of all equipment is given prior to games commencing.
There are many variations to the game, but the most commonly played is "Capture the Flag" involving teams using problem–solving skills to capture the opponents flag and return it to their own base without getting "tagged", which is a direct hit by a paintball, anywhere on the body, causing that team player to be out of the game.
Tennis
People wishing to play tennis there are courts available for rental at several local hotels, many offering coaching and lessons.
Parasailing
Another activity for thrill seekers is Parasailing. Operators are found on beaches in Kata and Karon and on Coral Island, but the main centre with several water sports choices is Patong beach.
Riders receive a short safety briefing, are provided with a life jacket and then are attached to the harness fastening them to the rope and parachute. A support person guides them into the air as they are pulled out into the bay by a speedboat, and hopefully their expertise will ensure a safe landing. Please bear in mind that it is unlikely that your travel insurance company will cover you if anything goes wrong.
